My TC33D developed a "gear chatter" after only 45 minutes of use.Dealer said it's normal but i wonder. Noise changes with engine rpm,is in all ranges,2wd & 4wd,forward & reverse.ONLY time it stops is when clutch is depressed. It's not as bad when tractor is cold.Seems to be coming from rear of tractor.Does anyone have any ideas?Tractor now has 7 hours on it and i love it except for the rattle coming from underneath.Traded a gear 1725 2wd and am beginning to wonder if i made a mistake.

It doesn't sound right. Most tractor transmissions are silent. Some manufacturers have field reps who travel around and look at potential problems and/or complaints. I wonder if NH has that sort of thing. Maybe this would be a question you could ask the dealer.
I'd also want a look at the tranny oil. Does it have a common transmission oil/hydraulic oil sump? If so, it most probably has a large replaceable screw-on fliter in the pressure line. You might have that filter looked at to see if any bits and pieces of steel are trapped inside. ....

I have had my TC33D for almost 2 years now and have accepted this rattling noise coming from the clutch area when the engine is at idle. Like you said when the clutch is pushed in this noise goes away. I have never thought much about this as I believe it was just coming from the loose fitted hub/clutch release bearing which slides over the input transmission shaft. The nature vibration of the engine running and the untensioned return spring cause this assembly to shake and make this rattling noise. When the clutch is pushed in everything is tightened up and the noise stops. I have heard this noise in other tractors over the years. Hans
